Man fatally stabbed in East Village; homicide investigation underway

A homicide investigation was underway in the East Village after a man was stabbed to death Sunday night, San Diego police said.

The attack was reported about 7:30 p.m. in the area of Imperial Avenue and 17th Street, just west of Interstate 5. The victim, whose age was unavailable, was stabbed multiple times and died before he could be taken to a hospital, police said.

The suspected assailant was taken into custody at the scene, according to scanner traffic. No further information was immediately available.
