KEARNY MESA —
A 27-year-old man died Thursday night after falling from an overpass onto state Route 52 in Kearny Mesa, the California Highway Patrol said.
The fall happened from Convoy Street about 7:55 p.m.
CHP Officer Jesse Matias said the man was struck by several vehicles after he hit the freeway and died before he could be taken to a hospital. Authorities will not release the man’s name until his family has been notified.
Westbound lanes of Route 52 were closed for about an hour while officers investigated the incident, Matias said. No one else was injured.
It’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the fall. Anyone who witnessed the incident was asked to call CHP Officer Sandro Kitzmann at (858) 293-6000.
