Deputies arrested five people Saturday on suspicion of committing a string of crimes in East County, including vehicle theft, catalytic converter theft and drug possession, sheriff’s officials said.
Three of the suspects reportedly stole a Subaru Outback, which was reported missing Dec. 29 by a city of San Diego resident, sherff’s Lt. Shawn Wray said. The trio was arrested during a traffic stop early Saturday. They were all men, ages 21, 31 and 41.
Wray said detectives later learned the suspects were staying at a home near North 1st Street and Greenfield Drive in El Cajon.
“A search (of the home) revealed identity theft information, freshly cut catalytic converters, a stolen motorcycle, stolen tools, counterfeit currency, methamphetamine and stolen mail,” Wray said in a statement.
Two others, a 32-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, were arrested at the residence in connection with the thefts.
