Sheriff’s detectives are asking for information from the public that could lead to an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that killed a man in Encinitas earlier this month, officials said.
David D’Lima, 23, and a woman were struck by a vehicle about 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1 in the intersection of North Coast Highway and Encinitas Boulevard, sheriff’s Deputy Alex Tran said in a statement. The pair had been running in the street.
Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. D’Lima died at a hospital, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner. The woman survived.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle did not stop after hitting the runners.
The driver’s vehicle was described as a black Chrysler/Dodge minivan, Tran said. A left side mirror was located at the scene.
A reward of $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest, authorities said.
