Sheriff’s officials on Tuesday released the names of the two victims and the suspect in a Lakeside double murder-suicide last week.
Sisters Michele Mallucci, 60, and Theresa Schrantz, 59, were fatally shot by Mallucci’s boyfriend, who then turned the gun on himself late Thursday, sheriff’s homicide Lt. Chris Steffen said.
Mallucci lived in Lakeside. The Union-Tribune could not immediately confirm the spelling of her name.
Schrantz lived in Las Vegas.
Steffen identified the gunman as Kenneth Harrington, 59, a resident of Lakeside.
It’s not clear what led to the shootings, first reported just after 11:30 p.m. at the Ridgecrest Community mobile home park for seniors on the Interstate 8 Business Loop near Los Coches Road.
Deputies learned that a man had shot a woman, and both were still inside the mobile home. A SWAT team entered the home and found the bodies of the two women and Harrington.
Schrantz is the grandmother of two children also in the mobile home at the time of the shooting. Steffen did not say how old the children were, but said they have been reunited with their family in Las Vegas.
